Our story

Updated: Aug 4, 2019

The love story my husband and I have isn't typical. We met online of all things. He was new to the area and just out of a horrible marriage at only 20 years old. I was 21 and in full party mode with no intentions of slowing down. One day I received a message on my online dating profile, nothing new I usually got 1 or 2 a week but not from anyone really worth my time. Anyway he message wasn’t like others. He said I was pretty and that he was new in town with no friends but was looking to meet new people. Nothing serious but if I was interested he left his number for me to text him. I checked out his profile and thought he was cute so I though what the heck I'll text him and see what happens. We started talking. Just simple get to know each other conversation. I found out he had a little boy who just turned one and that he was from Alabama but moved to Lubbock to live with his dad. He just ended a marriage due to some pretty serious issues so he wasn't looking to date but was looking for friends. We continued to text for about a month before we decided to meet and our schedules allowed it as he worked out of town during the week. Our first date was to a college party of all things. I figured if he could hang out with my friends then we would get along.

That night changed everything for the rest of my life. I fell in love with him and him with me. We didn't plan on it, neither of us were looking for relationship. I had never dated anyone with a kid and didn't know how to handle that situation but everything just fell into place. We moved in together after only 4 months of dating and he proposed 2 months after that. We were a family, Bryan, Brendon and I. I loved it. Yes things were hard, we struggled with money and both working nights we never saw each other. So we decided to make some changes. I quit my job to become a stay at home mom and Bryan started looking for a new job. Thats when the Army fell into our laps. We both felt the call of God to make this move for our current family and the one we wanted in the future. We ended up have 3 weeks to plan a wedding we had been working on having in September of 2013 and moved it up to May. Bryan was leaving in August for basic training and we needed to be married before then. So we did it. We got married and had a beautiful back yard wedding.

Our first year of marriage we spent a total of 4 months together. Bryan was in basic and then AIT from August till the end of March. Two weeks after he got home I said goodbye to my home for the past 23 years to go to Colorado Springs where Bryan was stationed at Fort Carson. We lived there for 4 years. We made a life and finished our family. Looking back on our story now I never would have thought we'd be where we are today. 21 year old me would have said you;'re crazy if you told me this is what my life would like but I love it. Every. Minute. Of. It.
