Go with the flow

So this weekend was NOTHING like I had planned!!

Instead of spending the weekend in Houston with my husband exploring and seeing new things, we spent most of Saturday in the car taking about us and life and laughing at comedy radio shows. We had our first trip to Buc-Ee’s where I might have gone overboard with buying shirts for everyone.

Instead of a fancy dinner and a night of bar hopping and dancing, we had dinner at Red Lobster and we didn’t have to talk over the kids and try to get them to eat while also trying to eat ourselves. We went to a movie at an actual theater instead of trying to watch a movie with 3 kids running around for the first time in over a year. Instead of waking up on Sunday morning and having a cute little brunch before heading back to my mom’s to grab our younger kids, I met my mom halfway and grabbed a great lunch at a little cafe then drove back home.

The plan of the weekend was to go go go and do do do but instead we planned on the spot and spent time together as husband and wife. We weren’t on a schedule and didn’t have to be. We relished in the quiet and un-interrupted conversations. Life gets busy and loud especially when you have 3 kids. Days slip away and we spread ourselves thin trying to wear all the titles we have at once. It can be exhausting so maybe a busy weekend away wasn’t what we needed. Maybe God knew we needed a calm and quite weekend. Time to talk about us and the plans we have for our family. Time to laugh and be a little carefree. Time to focus on our relationship and make it stronger. God knew what we needed when we didn’t. So yes sometimes things don’t go as we planned but they go according to God’s plan and that’s better than anything we could have planned for.
